If you are a PhD, you have also an alias address name.surname@unimore.it.
You can set name.surname@unimore.it as “from” for email sent from your account idnumber@studenti.unimore.it following these steps:
– Sign in to Gmail with your <idnumeric>@studenti.unimore.it account.
– If you haven’t already done so, enable two-step verification on your account: https://start.studenti.unimore.it/verifica-in-due-passaggi/
– Generate an app password: On the two-step verification management page, at the bottom, click “App passwords.” Select, for example, Mail as the app name and a device name (e.g., Windows). Generate the password and save it. It will need to be entered in the sender alias configuration (Google instructions: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833).
– Then set up the sender alias: from your account, click the gear icon -> View all Settings -> Account -> Send message as -> Add another email address.
– In this page enter your alias name.surname@unimore.it (see policy) and click “Next step“
– On the next page, change SMTP server settings and authentication parameters by entering:
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Username: your full address, idnumerico@studenti.unimore.it (idnumerico=username used in Esse3)
Password: the app password generated after enabling two-step verification.
– Click on “Add account” –> in this page, enter the code you find in the email that Google has sent to your alias name.surname@unimore.it to confirm the operation and then click on Verify
– Once you’ve added the alias as another owned address, you can set it as the default and use it for sending emails.
